Himemiya Yuka (姫宮ゆか) is a Japanese idol and a founding member of the idol group AVAM, where she represents the color pink. Her nickname is “Yukapi” (ゆかぴ), which can be heard in their song “あたしはキミに愛されたい！ / I want to be loved by you!”.
Yuka calls herself the ultimate little devil of the group. She adds a bit of playful charm to her performances and hopes that, among all the members, she can be the one who brings out the most “cute.”
She has dreamed of becoming an idol since she was little. Her interest started after watching the anime “Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch” with her older sister, where mermaids transform into idols and defeat enemies. In elementary school, she got into AKB48, and from that moment on becoming an idol became her dream. She even announced it during her “half coming-of-age ceremony.” After some teasing from others, her teacher told her that dreams only come true if you put them into words, so she decided she would definitely become an idol.
Yuka admires the idea of a perfect idol who sings, dances, and interacts with fans flawlessly. She says she is someone who shows her emotions easily, and that used to bother her. But fans told her that this is what makes her special, so now she sees it as both a strength and a weakness. She feels she is still far from being a perfect sparkling idol, but she believes she is expressing a uniqueness that is her own.
When asked where she thinks she has grown the most, she talks about performance skills. At first, she did not know how to project her voice properly, but through training she improved a lot and can now reach the highest vocal keys in AVAM, according to their director. She also says the other members tell her she has become stronger. She used to cry during performances, but now she can hold it in even when she feels frustrated or nervous on stage, and only lets it out backstage.
Yuka’s special skill is spatial awareness. She learns choreography quickly and can flip dance movements in her head while watching videos. In school, she also had strong instant memorization skills, where she could quickly skim material right before a test and still score around 80 points.
For the future, she would like AVAM to have their own radio show, and she also wants to perform at Sanrio Puroland.
