Chinzei Suzuka

Chinzei Suzuka (鎮西寿々歌) is a Japanese idol and a founding member of the idol group FRUITS ZIPPER. She was born in Kobe and raised in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture. In her self-introduction, she describes herself as a Sagittarius with blood type AB.

Before becoming an idol, Suzuka had a long career in children’s television. She appeared for about four years on NHK’s educational program “Tensai TV-kun MAX”, and still vividly remembers her first time performing on the NHK Hall stage as a fifth grader—singing and dancing in front of a live audience. She also served as the 12th “big sister” on “Nyanchu! Uchuu! Hoso Chuu!”, a long-running children’s program, and has continued to meet children through events. She has said that interacting with children makes her strongly feel “the power of kids,” and notes that both programs reaching their 30th anniversaries feels like a meaningful connection in her life.

When asked what she worked hardest on before becoming an idol, Suzuka answered: “truly opening my heart.” She explained that in everyday life she tends not to interfere too much with others and usually accepts people as they are. However, in FRUITS ZIPPER, she tries to build a relationship like family with the members, so she makes an effort to speak honestly when something is bothering her.

As artists who influenced her, she named Rola and SHINee. She admires Rola for her gentle way of expressing thoughts and emotions on social media, based on her deep interest in nature, people, and animals. From Rola, she learned that expression is about moving people’s hearts. From SHINee, she was especially inspired by their live performance in heavy rain, where they still gave everything on stage, which she describes as the essence of true professionalism.

Suzuka joined FRUITS ZIPPER after originally being offered a career as a talent/actress under ASOBISYSTEM. However, after seeing an advertisement recruiting members for an idol group, she suddenly felt, “I can’t die without becoming an idol.” She immediately contacted the agency. She later explained that this feeling came from a long-suppressed desire she had since childhood, to sing and dance on stage.

Within FRUITS ZIPPER, she describes her strengths as her brightness, talkative personality, and her ability to confidently perform even sudden one-liner jokes. However, she also says she doesn’t fully understand her own charm yet and hopes fans will continue discovering it for her.

For her future goal, she jokingly said she wants to “bend spoons.”
