FRUITS ZIPPER (フルーツジッパー) is a Japanese female idol group affiliated with Asobi System. The group was formed in 2022 as part of the “KAWAII LAB.” project, a new initiative aimed at sharing Japanese idol culture with the world. The group is produced by Misa Kimura, former leader of the idol group Musubizm and a former model for Zipper. FRUITS ZIPPER is best known for their viral 2022 song “Watashi no Ichiban Kawaii Tokoro,” which became a major hit on TikTok and helped establish their presence in the modern J-pop idol scene. Their style centers around the concept of “NEW KAWAII,” mixing Harajuku fashion culture with energetic idol pop.
FRUITS ZIPPER officially debuted in 2022 with their first live performance at SELENE b2 in Shirokane-Takanawa as part of their debut event “FIRST CONTACT.” The group name combines “FRUIT,” symbolizing growth and bearing fruit, with “ZIP,” meaning energy and vitality, reflecting their goal of becoming a group that grows through idol activities while bringing positivity to others.
Their breakthrough came with “Watashi no Ichiban Kawaii Tokoro,” released in April 2022, which went viral on TikTok and accumulated billions of views globally. The track also achieved major streaming milestones, surpassing 100 million streams by 2024 and continuing to grow rapidly afterward.
Following their success, FRUITS ZIPPER has become one of the leading groups in the “KAWAII LAB.” project, actively promoting a new generation of idol culture centered on individuality, digital virality, and the concept of “kawaii” as a global aesthetic.
