Sakurai Yui

Sakurai Yui (櫻井優衣) is a Japanese idol, a founding member of the idol group FRUITS ZIPPER, and a solo artist. She is also a former member of My Dear Darlin’, Pink Babies, momograci, and BlooDye.

Yui graduated from Pink Babies on April 9, 2017, and made her solo debut on July 24, 2018. She later graduated from My Dear Darlin’ on July 16, 2020, joined BlooDye in December 2020 and graduated in March 2022, and briefly participated as a temporary member of momograci in 2021. She was revealed as a founding member of FRUITS ZIPPER on February 22, 2022.

She has loved clothes and tea since a young age, and her fans often say her smile resembles the Seven Lucky Gods. As a child, she went through a rebellious phase where she rejected girly styles and preferred skull motifs and bold fashion, but later embraced cute and frilly clothing as she grew older.

Before becoming an idol, she worked hard on singing and dancing, teaching herself by copying performances at home. She started with little experience and struggled to keep up with more skilled members in her early groups, often practicing late into the night.

She says that Hello! Project influenced her the most as a performer, admiring their high level of skill and ability to captivate audiences.

After a period of working as an artist, she was invited to become an idol again, which made her reflect on her feelings and rediscover her desire to perform as an idol.

In 2024, she released her first photobook “YUi,” which was shot in Phuket and Phi Phi Island in Thailand. The shoot featured swimsuit and her first lingerie photos. She expressed that she enjoyed the experience and was touched by the warmth of the local people.

Her strength lies in her ability to captivate audiences on stage, and she believes she shines the most when performing live. Her goal is for FRUITS ZIPPER to become widely known and loved, and personally, she aims to become the number one idol in Japan.
