CUTIE STREET(キューティーストリート)is an 8-member Japanese female idol group affiliated with Asobi System. The group was formed in 2024 as part of the “KAWAII LAB.” project, an initiative focused on sharing modern Japanese idol culture with the world. Produced by Misa Kimura, former leader of Musubizm, CUTIE STREET brings together members from diverse backgrounds including influencers, actresses, dancers, idols, and students.
The group’s concept, “KAWAII MAKER,” centers on creating and spreading their own unique vision of “kawaii” from Harajuku to a global audience. Their name reflects the idea that anyone can become their ideal self (“CUTIE”) and go anywhere (“STREET”).
CUTIE STREET made their stage debut on August 4, 2024, at TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2024, performing on the KAWAII LAB. stage alongside fellow groups FRUITS ZIPPER, CANDY TUNE, and SWEET STEADY. The group was formed through months of auditions and performance training, with members Risa Furusawa, Aika Sano, Kana Itakura, Ayano Masuda, Emu Kawamoto, Miyu Umeda, Nagisa Manabe, and Haruka Sakuraba—who was also a finalist on PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS.
Their breakout moment came with the release of “Kawaii Dake ja Dame desu ka?” on September 9, 2024. The song quickly went viral on TikTok and other social media platforms, driven by a distinctive dance that spread widely among users. It achieved strong chart performance on Billboard Japan’s TikTok charts and helped establish CUTIE STREET as one of the rising groups in the current “kawaii” and self-affirmation trend within J-pop.
Since their debut, CUTIE STREET has gained attention as part of a new wave of idol groups emphasizing individuality, positivity, and digital virality. With their “KAWAII MAKER” identity and diverse member backgrounds, they represent a modern evolution of idol culture shaped by social media and global audiences.
