Formation and Concept (2022)
Yubiningyou (唯美人形) is a Japanese idol group formed on June 26, 2022. The group operates under the agency Porulet and releases music through Lys Label. Their official debut took place shortly afterward on July 7, 2022.
The group’s name references the concept of 唯美主義 (aestheticism), a philosophy that emphasizes beauty and artistic expression. This idea forms the basis of their concept, often described as “dolls living in an aesthetic world.” Their visual style, stage presentation, and music videos reflect this theme, combining gothic imagery with a theatrical atmosphere.
From the beginning, Yubiningyou positioned itself as an alternative idol project with a strong emphasis on aesthetics and mood rather than traditional idol presentation.
Musical Style and Identity
Yubiningyou’s music blends J-pop with darker alternative influences, creating a style that combines melodic pop structures with a more dramatic tone.
A defining element of the group’s identity is their stage persona. During performances the members maintain a solemn, doll-like presence, often avoiding smiling or speaking between songs. This approach reinforces the group’s concept and helps create a distinctive atmosphere during live shows.
Their lyrics and visual presentation often leave room for interpretation rather than delivering direct messages, encouraging listeners to interpret the themes and imagery in their own way.
Most of the group’s music has been written and produced by Hide Shimamura, whose work contributes to the group’s theatrical sound and consistent musical direction.
Early Activities and Releases
Following their debut in 2022, Yubiningyou began releasing music while performing at live events.
Their first releases included the singles Kuro Budō (黒葡萄) and Gyaku Kaiten Mokuba (逆回転木馬), both released on November 26, 2022.
In April 2023 the group released the single Chiisana Rakuen (小さな楽園), followed by San San Rondo (さんさんろんど) in July 2023.
Later that year, on December 25, 2023, the group released their first extended play Kage to Kage no Rendezvous (影と影のランデヴー). These releases established their musical direction and expanded their presence within Japan’s alternative idol scene.
Members and Lineup Changes
Yubiningyou has undergone several lineup changes since its formation.
The current lineup consists of Shizuki Nana, Aoi Melissa Mika, and Mizuki Louis. Louis joined the group in August 2025.
Earlier members included Kogarashi Meno, Natsume Rico, and Takada Momo, who graduated from the group between 2023 and early 2024.
Following these departures, Nana and Mika initially appeared as support members beginning in January 2024 before becoming full members in July of the same year. With the addition of Louis in 2025, the group returned to a three-member lineup.
Recent Activities (2025–2026)
In December 2025, Yubiningyou released the single Himitsu (秘密). This release marked one of the first major works from the current lineup.
On February 28, 2026, the group released the single Kachōfugetsu (花鳥風月), continuing their gothic-inspired musical direction.
During this period the group remained active with live performances. In February 2026 they held a solo theater performance, and a solo concert at Shibuya WWW in Tokyo was announced for April 15, 2026.
Despite lineup changes and their relatively recent debut, Yubiningyou continues to build its presence through concept-driven performances and a distinctive visual identity.
