Ami Arata (羅あらた) is a member of the Japanese female idol group Pupa!! (ピューパ‼︎). She joined the group on January 22, 2023. Before joining Pupa!!, she was active in several self-produced and underground idol projects, including the unit totonnoy, which she formed in May 2021 with former #f606 member yumma. She also previously performed under the name Yuitsu Yuni (唯一ゆに) as part of #f606.
Within Pupa!!, she has been active during a major transitional period for the group. She describes 2025 as a particularly difficult year, saying it felt like a year of endurance. She explains that the departure of the group’s producer, who had been heavily involved in music and creative direction, created uncertainty about the group’s future identity and led to concern from fans who closely associated Pupa!! with that producer’s work.
Despite this, the group continued its activities through live performances and one-man shows, and she emphasizes that fan support played an important role in helping them move forward during this period.
Ami also discusses her participation in gravure-related events such as Kinma (Kindai Mahjong Swimsuit Festival). She says she took part in the event to show that Pupa!! includes members who are willing to do gravure work, helping to broaden the group’s image and reach new audiences. She also notes that appearing in well-known events can help increase recognition and expand job opportunities.
At the same time, she stresses that her overall approach is based on personal motivation, stating that everything she does is ultimately because she wants to do it.
She describes Pupa!! as a group where decisions are made in a flexible and informal way, with members and staff often discussing things casually rather than through strict formal meetings.
She states that the group’s goal is to achieve sold-out shows, noting that while attendance has been steadily increasing, they often fall just short of full capacity by only a small margin.
